Undefeated boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. would do well to heed the ancient Chinese proverb: “Beware of the man with nothing to lose.” That man is boxing great, Manny Pacquiao. As the fighters prepare for their May 2nd bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, each will have to bring their best mental game ever. Mayweather because he is fighting the man with nothing to lose. With Mayweather’s 47-0 record (which includes 26 knockouts), it would seem that the biggest danger for Mayweather is to go into this fight underestimating his opponent. With a record like that, one can guess he wouldn’t. But there’s always a first time.
As for Manny Pacquiao, his impressive 57-5-2 record makes him a worthy opponent but statistically speaking he will need more than skill and hard training. His mental game will have to be more powerful than ever. Manny will need to have more than the ability to take a punch. He will need to have absolute control of his thoughts and beliefs. Belief will be key in defeating the favored Mayweather.
Pacquiao will have to walk the balance between confidence and overconfidence. This can be done by aligning the conscious and subconscious mind using hypnosis. Manny Paquiao needs a Mental Performance Coach – me. Through the power of hypnosis we would revisit Pacquiao’s first major upset against Lehlo Ledwaba; those beliefs, those feelings. Then we will copy and paste those beliefs into the present situation. Then we have his subconscious looking into the future where he is victorious. Through this mental conditioning, we are able to squelch any concerns or self doubt. Belief is a powerful thing that can make the impossible not only probable, but a true reality.
So come on Manny Pacquiao, get in my chair! You are working hard at conditioning your body but don’t forget to condition your mind. There’s no such thing as a lucky shot – just an opportunity exploited. Through the power of hypnosis your subconscious mind can alert you to all the opportunities at the split second before they arrive. It’s that good.
